What is Remote Recovery Cover?

Remote Recovery Cover is an optional add-on that covers the reasonable cost of towing and recovering your Spaceships rental vehicle if it becomes immobilised due to a mechanical breakdown or accident while travelling in approved Remote Travel Areas.

Approved Remote Travel Areas include:

  • Northern Territory (NT)

  • Designated areas of Northern Western Australia (WA). See the map below.

Remote Recovery Cover is required for towing within the red-shaded areas in Northern Western Australia and Northern Territory

When is Remote Recovery Cover required?

  • Required for towing within the red-shaded Remote Recovery Area in Northern WA and NT (as shown on the map)

  • Not required for travel within the Standard Travel Area (outside the Remote Recovery Area).

What are the benefits?

  • Provides peace of mind for travel in remote locations.

  • Allows greater freedom to explore approved Remote Travel Areas.

What are the conditions for coverage?

Remote Recovery Cover only applies if:

✅ Purchased before the start of your rental.

✅ The vehicle is within an approved Remote Travel Area.

✅ The vehicle is operated in accordance with the Rental Agreement.

✅ The recovery is arranged or authorised by Spaceships.

What is NOT covered?

❌ Repairs to the vehicle.

❌ Accommodation, meals, flights, or alternative transport.

❌ Any loss/damage excluded under the Rental Agreement.

❌ Recovery due to:

  • Driving on prohibited roads/areas.

  • Misuse, negligence, or driving through floodwaters.

  • Beach driving or becoming bogged.

What if my vehicle breaks down?

  • Contact Spaceships immediately and follow instructions.

  • Do not arrange towing/recovery without prior authorisation (unless for personal safety).

  • If Remote Recovery Cover has not been purchased, all towing/recovery costs in a Remote Travel Area are your responsibility.

Is Remote Recovery Cover insurance?

No. It does not reduce your liability for:

  • Vehicle damage

  • Insurance excess

  • Traffic infringements

  • Tolls or other charges under the Rental Agreement.
